PC Specs Remain Unchanged from version 3.1 /2022
Firstly we would completely ignore the minimum spec as this can also lead to a poor software experience across the board on your PC.
These are the Offical “Full Workstation Spec”
CPU: Intel Core-i9 11900k / AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
RAM: 16GB DDR4 non ECC – We would suggest a minimum of 32GB of RAM preferably 64GB*
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2060 (6GB GDDR6) or RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or 6700XT (6 GB GDDR6)– These GPUs are now sunsetted, so a 4000 series RTX would suffice*
Screen resolution: WQHD (2560×1440), recommended: UHD (3840×2160)
Power: 750+ Watt
Firstly we build AMD CPU systems as they offer strong performance for the price. The recommended Ryzen 9 is a great starting point with 12 cores on that CPU, we wouldn’t go below 8 cores though.
RAM it is more cost-effective to run with 32GB with 2x 16GB sticks of RAM. Most Windows 10 PCs will tend to run with around 9GB of memory in use on idle, which would leave only 7GB free which isn’t much as you always want around 2/3GB free to stop the PC from slowing down, this is why we recommend 32GB having 64GB of RAM is the best solution.
GPU both of the first models mentioned are 2 generations old, hard to get and worth avoiding. We would go with a RTX 4070 as standard
For the storage, we only use the latest NVMe drives giving blistering read/write speeds (nothing mentioned on the Exocad Offical spec page).
Power supplies to you won’t make much difference but we tend to use 900w or higher.
